All my dreads are handmade and steam sealed, not machine made, and can be made skinny, thin, thick…. |
|
| 2 |
They are braided into the hair using either blanket or box braiding techniques, and you will not have to shave your head to remove them! |
| 3 |
Your hair should be at least 3 inches in length when installing dreads. |
|
| 4 |
You should only use dilute shampoo or dry shampoo to wash your scalp (not the dreads) while you have them installed, and try and last as long as posible without washing your hair. The dreads hold onto the water and take a very long time to dry if you get them soaking wet! Be sure to rinse your scalp with plenty of clean water to get rid of any excess shampoo to avoid itches. |

Dreads will not harm your hair - you will find a lot of shed hairs when you take them out - don’t worry! This is perfectly normal. The hairs that are normally shed every day get trapped in the braid and so cant escape until you take out your dreads. |
| 6 |
Your dreads will become softer over time and can be reused again and again. |
| 7 |
You may experience headaches when your dreads are freshly put in and have trouble sleeping while your head/scalp get used to the extra weight. |
| 8 |
You can keep your dread extensions in up to 12 weeks / 3 months. It is not adviseable to keep them in longer than this as your actual hair growth at the root will start to dread and matt up - a pain to brush out! |
| 9 |
It is not advised to dye your roots while your dreads are installed. This is because you wont be able to wash out all of the dye and it will lead to an irritated scalp. |
| 10 |
The best way to tie up dreads is to use the leg of a pair of tights. It will keep them nice and tight in position and is large enough to wrap around the dreads a few times - loads better than hair bobbles! |
